What Is Scrip?
Scrip is a term that means “substitute money.” When we purchase scrip, we’re purchasing negotiable gift cards that are used like cash. The scrip is issued by the national and local retailers where families already shop. These merchants want to support non-profit organizations and in return, ask you to support them by shopping with scrip at their stores. You can use scrip to purchase food, clothing, and other everyday essentials. With each gift card used, revenue is earned for you and for Olive Branch Christian School.

How Scrip Generates Revenue for You:
The Great Lakes Scrip center acts on behalf of Olive Branch Christian School by purchasing large amounts of scrip from grocery stores, department stores, gas stations, and other retailers. Because the scrip is purchased with cash up front, the participating retailers offer a substantial discount. Olive Branch Christian School buys the scrip from Great Lakes Scrip Center, and then resells the certificates to our families for regular face value. The discount is split. Part of the percentage is retained by Olive Branch Christian School and you can designate your portion to be used as a tuition or lunch account credit, or to purchase more scrip.
Scrip is “shopping cart fundraising”

The reason for the effectiveness of scrip is simple: families produce revenue by making purchases they would make anyway. Groceries, clothing, toys, gifts, and even gasoline can be purchased with scrip. An organization of 150 families easily spends between one and two million dollars per year on food, clothing, and other essentials. It is a fundraiser at no cost to person supporting the school by using Scrip.

How to Order
Just stop by the school office Monday through Friday to place your scrip order. Many of the cards are onsite for immediate purchase and others will be ordered. You can download an order form on RenWeb under the Newsletters Tab.
